The Job Creation Program recognizes that career advancements require a solid foundation of skills.
We have worked to address these needs for over 3 years by providing the following:

- Resume & Cover Letter Writing
- Employment Referrals & Educational Resources
- Job Fairs
- Career symposiums
- No- cost computer classes Intro to Computers & Microsoft Word & Excel- offered 3 days a week
- Business Startup Assistance
- Training in specific fields as requested by the community
- Mentoring neighborhood leaders
The Gary Center Expansion: In order to address a need for on the job training, we have been working on creating a bakery café training ground in the city of La Habra to provide a 2 part tailored training program to our trainees.
We are expanding our facilities to provide more training opportunities to our clients. We plan to open up a Bakery Café to help fund our mission of employing local low income residents and increasing the employment rate within our city while providing them with a tailored training program including one on one coaching sessions, helping our employees to discover and pursue employment, education and life goals.
Through our on the job training and education, we intend to have our bakery serve as a launching pad for our employees into the workforce increasing economic prosperity while providing an on hands training program in the areas of baking, cake decoration, food preparation, supervisory experience, and potential general bookkeeping.
Social Enterprise: The bakery café will be owned and operated by The Gary Center. The revenue generated will be used to forward our mission. We are creating strategic partnerships within our community and industry to ensure sustainability of our Bakery Café and training program.
The Job Creation Program receives guidance from an Advisory Board which includes community leaders, staff and volunteer residents.

"La Habra Works" is building its own small business that will employ local residents. The program needs your help in promoting its services, which include vocational education, childcare licensing, job placement, and assistance in writing resumes, business plans, etc. Additionally, if you are looking for employment or would like guidance in starting your own business, come see Robyn.
